FDT Group Membership Reaches a New Record
Membership in the FDT Group has reached a record level with the total membership now standing at eight-eight (88). This is a growth of more than 20% over the last 6 months reflecting the significant interest in the Asia Pacific region. Recent additions include Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Japan and Shanghai Institute of Process Automation Instrumentation in China.
“The China market is rapidly embracing the FDT standard as we can see from our membership growth,” commented Mr. Ken Qui, Chairman of the Board of the China FDT Association. “We expect that this growth in interest will continue as we will soon reach the approval of the FDT standard as an official Chinese standard.”
The growth in manufacturing members is good news for the users of the FDT standard as these members develop and certify FDT compliant products. “Historically, approximately 80% of our manufacturing members will certify products within two years of joining,” explains Glenn Schulz, Managing Director of the FDT Group. “The recent growth in membership can be translated to significant growth over the next two years, well beyond the 3,000 devices currently supported by certified DTMs. “
FDT Group membership is open to all interested individuals, businesses, and universities interested in supporting the further development of the FDT standard. Membership is not required to use the open FDT standard nor to have products certified by the FDT Group. The FDT Group operates as an international, non-profit organization.
